Africa is literally heaving with incredible wildlife! I’ve only seen a very tiny fraction of the continent - over the years, my work and travels have taken me relatively frequently to Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and South Africa. When not working, I try to get out into the national parks with my camera. Every facet of animal life is on show there – from lion cubs frolicking, to giraffes munching from the high branches; meerkats warming their bellies in the sun; lions closing in for the kill; pink flamingos wading and the mighty elephants showering by the river. One of the most memorable trips I had was with a guide from the Maasai people in the Masai Mara – the local people know the wildlife like no-one else. Sadly, poaching and hunting is still a major problem for African wildlife – where some celebrate the animals in the wild, others hunt them for their ivory or as trophies. There is a lot that can be done though to help save endangered species.
